Hi everyone, this is Yae. We were in Indiana for a recording of trumpeter Clay Jenkins, pianist Steve Allee, bassist Bob Bowman, and drummer Steve Houghton. I am so lucky to have been in the studio listening to such beautiful sounds by amazing musicians! Oh and Luca Rodoni is bringing his quartet from Temple Univ to Montana next week. Backburner Reunion
I’ve got an exciting news from my friend and great musician Eric Funk. Backburner (Alan Fauque on sax, Eric Funk on piano, Eddie Tsuru on bass, Mike Gillan on drums) will have a reunion concert at Rialto on August 23rd!! Alan will travel back to Montana from Wisconsin and Eric will “give it a try” after a few years away 😉 It will be so exciting! I will post more when I get more detail.

Great news for Bozeman jazz players and music fans! There will be open jam session at Cafe Zydeco Bozeman on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. And hopefully this will be regular! The house jazz band will consist of Alex Platt on drums, Silas Stewart on vibraphone, John Swendseid on tenor, and Michael Steel on bass. Jazz musicians one and all, students, teachers, and players, come out and play! We will open with our own set, and then open up the stage to anyone who wants to jam. All ages, no cover, amazing food! The quartet includes three of my dearest friends and rising-stars in the jazz world: bassist Nathan Pence, saxophonist Dylan Band, and guitarist/pianist Elijah Cole.
