For two days of great music in Billings!
Friday night will feature Billings own Rocky Mountain Jazz Collective – Oliver Nelson’s “Blues and the Abstract Truth” featuring guest artist Steve Owen from the University of Oregon. They’ll be performing the music from Oliver Nelson’s legendary recording, “Blues and the Abstract Truth” Don’t miss this performance of Nelson’s creative and unique take on the blues! 5TH ANNUAL DJANGO REINHARDT BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION CONCERT
5th Annual Django Reinhardt Birthday Celebration Concert with Montana Manouche and Hot Club of Cowtown.
The bands celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt. Born on January 23, 1910, Django Reinhardt created the genre of music known as Jazz Manouche (or Gypsy Jazz). With violinist Stéphane Grappelli, Reinhardt formed the Paris-based Quintette du Hot Club de France in 1934. The group was among the first to play jazz that featured the guitar and violin as lead instruments. Reinhardt was a prolific composer, and you’ll hear many of his remarkable and enduring tunes at the concert. Dancers are welcome.
