The MSU Billings Jazz Ensembles will be backing world renowned saxophonist Bob Sheppard on Feb. 26th at Cisel Hall! The concert begins at 7:30 PM and is free to the public. First call for live performance and TV/movies you have all seen, he is literally the most in-demand saxophonist and woodwind session player in Los Angeles. For more than four decades, the multi-instrumentalist has played on countless sessions with an astounding crop of A-list jazz giants—among them Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard, Nat Adderley, Michael and Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Herbie Hancock, Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Lyle Mays, John Beasley and Steps Ahead. He’s also recorded and toured as a leader, contributed to hundreds of movie and TV soundtracks – Chicago Hope, Monsters Inc., Seinfeld, King of the Hill, 10 days in the Valley, Saturday Night Live, etc.

ON THURSDAY NIGHT AT CRAFT LOCAL IN BILLINGS
On February 27th from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. great saxophonist Bob Sheppard and Scott Jeppesen are playing a concert with double tenor saxophones with Erik Olson on piano, Michael Steele on bass, and Roxanne Jeppesen on drums! Here is from Scott “Super excited for this one folks! Bob is one of the all-time great jazz tenor saxophonists, a close friend, and was my saxophone teacher while I was in college. He’ll be in town for a few days to play some great shows around the Billings area. On Tuesday 2/25 he’ll be playing in Powell, WY for the jazz festival at Northwest College. On Wednesday 2/26 he’ll join the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz combo at MSU Billings in Cisel Hall. To close out the week, Bob and I will be playing a show with two, that’s right, two tenor saxophones!”

THE THIRD ANNUAL BIG SKY GYPSY JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Third Annual Big Sky Gypsy Jazz Festival, Montana’s premier celebration of gypsy jazz, is coming to Missoula, March 20-22nd, with concerts at Free Cycles, the historic Roxy Theater, and Imagine Nation Brewing. Featuring Night Blooming Jasmine (Missoula), Montana Manouche (Bozeman), Cottonwood Club (Helena), Rimrock Hot Club (Billings), and Scott Adams and Toby Hansen (Seattle), the festival brings together more than 20 of the best jazz musicians in the region for a cultural celebration that supports local businesses, artists, and musicians. Last year’s festival in Billings successfully sold out multiple shows and drew hundreds of audience members to downtown businesses.
