Well, I started BigSkyJazz newsletter in May, 2017. For the first time I failed to send out my weekly jazz newsletter last week. It is so easy to see sense of day and customs slipping away when we have to keep ourselves isolated.
Jazz musicians and fans are mourning to lose jazz legends Ellis Marsalis, Jr.,Bucky Pizzarelli, Marcelo Peralta, Manu Dibango, Mike Longo, and Wallace Roney to the Coronavirus. I think almost all of us have seen more people around us getting infected by the virus, sometimes including themselves. Love and kindness to each other more than ever in time like this.
* To musician friends, if you would like to add your message, on going projects like new albums, etc. on BigSkyJazz.net please contact me!
* Details of these concerts can be changed due to artists/venues’ circumstances.

BOZEMAN JAZZ SCENE

Facebook page “Bozeman Jazz Scene” has shared lots of jazz events and more with local jazz fans. No jazz event right now due to the virus but some musicians have posted news, videos, and even practice material! I posted couple of Bob Bowman’s very touching bass solos as well. Please drop by and enjoy!
To jazz musicians in Bozeman area, please contact the page if you would like to post your material on Bozeman Jazz Scene.

FROM OUR KC JAZZ FRIENDS

Some of jazz fans in Bozeman and Billings area have seen Peter Schlamb and Matt Villinger from Kansas City. Bassist Bob Bowman has brought them several times to Montana and every time they visit here they gain more fans! Matt and Peter share a house and they have posted online performances from their living room. Please visit Matt’s Facebook page to catch their live performance!

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

My amazing husband and great bassist Bob Bowman joined the famous Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra in 1976. He toured with Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra many times and recorded several albums, including the Grammy award-winning “Live in Munich.” You can watch Thad Jones – Mel Lewis Orchestra’s performance took place in München here on YouTube . Young Bob is playing bass!

In a reply to my last newsletter about McCoy Tyner’s “Real McCoy”, one of Bozeman’s biggest jazz fans Greg Smith mentioned “Passion Dance” by Al Foster, with McCoy and Charnett Moffett also on YouTube. Here is the link to the movie!

The picture above is a seagull joined our late lunch in Oregon Coast in January.
That’s all for this week. See you next week!
