Today, June 17th was a composer, pianist, and conductor Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky’s birthday (June 17th 1882 – April 6th 1971) . He is definitely one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century! As for live jazz, here are couple of events in Billings and Bozeman. Please scroll down for the details!

FROM BOB BOWMAN

Hope you are all pandemicing well. Yae and I are.
I played with Alex Nauman Tuesday June 9th at Devil’s Toboggan. It was grand fun. Some very loyal friends showed up. However not a single musician. ??? Alex and I both had to drive about two hours each way. We’ll be back June 30th. I was somewhat reluctant, but Devil’s Toboggan did a great job of making sure everything was cool. Kudos to them.
One another rather important note or two, those being Yae and me. We were married three years ago on June 18th (and they said it wouldn’t last). I couldn’t be happier. Both of us having lost our previous spouses makes it even more Precious. Many thanks to the Cikans for hosting our wedding and where Yae and I met and where I also proposed. Yae’s response: “Really? I didn’t think you wanted to get married again.” Then she said “OF COURSE!”
Hope to see you soon!

BILL EVANS TRIO

Bob and I’ve just listened to “Bill Evans Trio – The Paris Concert – Two Lost Tracks” on YouTube. “The Bill Evans Trio Live at the Espace Cardin, Paris, France; November 26, 1979. Two lost tracks. 01. Suicide Is Painless (Johnny Mandel) 02. But Beautiful (Jimmy Van Heusen)”
Bill Evans – piano, Marc Johnson – bass, Joe LaBarbera – drums. Bob and Marc Johnson have been friends since 1972. Also he played with Joe LaBarbera who Bob has just heard from regarding these two tracks and Joe said Bill loved the piano so much that he played for a couple of hours after the concert.

BigSkyJazz.net and news letter Jazz this week are non-profit. I am doing this to be a little help for jazz community around Bozeman while I work as a website/graphic designer.
If you feel like helping me with a little reward please donate from “Buy me a glass of wine page“. It is much appreciated!!!
