I love playing with younger musicians which is freeing. However playing with folks that have been doing it a long time there a sense of trust that is freeing in its own way.”

Some jazz fans who like vocalists may know Karrin Allyson who is an internationally acclaimed singer, pianist, composer, teacher, and bandleader with 15 CD’s and 5 Grammy Nominations. My husband and bassist Bob Bowman met Karrin in Kansas City, MO in 1990 and played and recorded with her for 15 years. He still continues playing with her occasionally. Recently Karrin and her partner Bill McGlaughlin started a radio show together. If you don’t know about Bill McGlaughlin, he served as a trombonist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony, then turned to conducting with a variety of orchestras, from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra to the Kansas City Symphony.
