Bob and I are in Kansas City, MO area for his gigs now. Since it is a good season for a road trip, we stretched our drive and dropped by Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming and Badlands National Park in South Dakota en route to Kansas City, Missouri. Both places are just amazing and they were not too crowded yet. We are so glad we made this trip!!

FROM BOB BOWMAN

A sunset in Turney, MO.

Enjoying beautiful weather, horses and music in the KC area. Keep an eye out for a performance with the KC Symphony. Video recording on Thursday to be aired later. Some musicians that some of you  Montanans are familiar with. Peter Schlamb and Matt Villinger. Also the absolutely amazing drummer, pianist and electric bassist, Ryan Lee. Oh yeah. Carpenter as well. I want to get him to the Treasure State. Also other gigs and recordings with others you know. Brian Steever, John Kizilermut, Matt Otto and drummer Todd Strait, who I’ve played more music with than anyone. Met him when he was fourteen and I was twenty three. YIKES! Really good to get back playing again with and for people!

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

In case you missed Alex Nauman’s live stream concert series “The Hang!” with Rob Kohler last Friday, you can watch the episode on Alex’s YouTube channel! Here is a link to the concert by Alex Nauman and Rob Kohler.
Bob and I recently revisited “My Man’s Gone Now” by Bill Evans, Scott LaFaro, and Paul Motian recorded at Village Vanguard in 1961. Such a beautiful performance that gives us chill every time we listen to.
April 8th was great jazz singer Carmen McRae’s 101st birthday so we watched few videos of her concert in Japan recorded in 1986. She was joined by Bob Bowman on bass, Pat Coil on piano, and Mark Pulice on drums. Here is a link to “Yesterdays” by Carmen McRae!
