ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE INDEPENDENT IN BIG SKY
The Craig Hall Trio: Craig Hall on guitar, Michael Steele on bass, and Josh Poole on drums, will play at the opening of The Independent on Friday, January 7th in Big Sky. Formerly “Big Sky Theater,” The Independent is a family-centered, multifaceted community center. The reopening will be 4:00 p.m. The trio will perform from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. No music Charge. And They will play most Fridays through the ski season!

“The Craig Hall Trio is lead by old man Bozeman guitarist Craig Hall, who has operated as a sideman for endless jazz and jazz-influenced groups, having traveled several continents and most states. Also having ventured into blues, folk and early American acoustic music, his main study has been mainstream jazz, and his main current project is to meld the history of jazz guitar into forward-reaching music that connects directly with his mountainous surroundings. Drummer Josh Poole, a welcome transplant to Montana, has studied jazz at The New School in New York City. In Montana when not drumming he is studying sustainable agricultural strategies. Acoustic bassist Michael Steele is a music therapist and classical guitar instructor originally from the Oakland, California area, fascinated by modern mainstream jazz. The three are endeavoring to break the molds of jazz, even while reverently delivering it. Expect open spacious sounds interspersed with rhythmically complex improvisations and shifting harmony… And some Beatles.”
