MORGENROTH & BOWMAN CONCERT AT CIKAN HOUSE

Pianist David Morgenroth and bassist Bob Bowman will be making splendid music at Cikan house on Sunday, August 5th . They are virtuosi and true artists who have dedicated their lives to music and you will know when you listen to their sound.

David Morgenroth is among the rare breed of artists at home in both classical and jazz genres. He has performed with such jazz luminaries as Joe Williams, Freddie Hubbard, Lionel Hampton, Gary Peacock, Clark Terry, Bill Watrous, Toots Thielemans, Michael Brecker and Benny Golson. He has performed across the United States and Canada as well as in Europe and South America. After freelancing in Dallas, Phoenix and San Francisco, Mr. Morgenroth performed extensively in New York City as a chamber musician and jazz artist, while studying with famed pedagogue Sophia Rosoff and jazz great Fred Hersch. He holds graduate degrees in both classical piano and jazz studies from the University of North Texas.

Bob Bowman has performed with numbers of artists including Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Frank Mantooth, Carmen McRae, Freddie Hubbard, Bud Shank, Karrin Allyson, Dan Haerle, Steve Houghton, Steve Allee. Bob has toured around the world and been on many recordings that have won or been nominated for GRAMMY awards. While performing with these artists, he works with his own bands including the legendary Kansas City group, INTERSTRING and has also dedicated himself to jazz education. Bob now resides in Montana continuing to play and influence the music scene.

The Will Brown Trio is a New York City based group that blends standard jazz repitiore with jazz and folk inspired original compositions. Will seeks to combine the sounds of his upbringing with modern jazz harmony and rhythm. The trio features John Koozin on bass, Chris Garriga on drums, and Will Brown on saxophones. Will also will be performing at Walkers in Billings with his band on Sunday, August 12th.

BOZEMAN SWING CLUB PRESENTS TUESDAY SWING SPECIAL

This special dance is going to be full of goodness with international swing musicians Jonathan Doyle and Jack Sanders plus Bob Bowman joining in the fun. We will have amazing music to swing to all night long!
A basic swing lesson from 6:30-7pm to help you get out on the dance floor. Live music with Jonathan Doyle on Sax and Clarinet, Jake Sanders on Guitar and Banjo, and local musician Bob Bowman is joining in on upright Bass. These amazing musicians will play from 8-10pm for all of our dancing pleasure.

BACKBURNER REUNION ON AUGUST 23RD AT RIALTO

BACKBURNER is a Bozeman, Montana-based poly-stylistic jazz quartet that has worked together for almost 20 years. During that time they recorded five CDs, all favorably reviewed by the, prestigious international jazz music magazine “Le Jazz Hot” [Paris]. The group was featured on season 1 of the 9-time Emmy Award winning Montana PBS-TV program “11th & Grant with Eric Funk” and is partly responsible for the creation of that series due to the powerful public response to the PBS Christmas Special “A Jazz Peace” in 2004. The group features Alan Fauque, saxophones, Eric Funk, piano, Eddie Tsuru, bass, and Mike Gillan, drums.
