Last Tuesday, October 27th was my birthday. Bob took me to Yellowstone National Park 3 times in one week for my birth week celebration! We enjoyed our time in the majestic nature on gorgeous autumn days with much less people. Life in Montana with Bob is truly the greatest gift.

FROM BOB BOWMAN
Sad day a year ago on this date. Brad Edwards left us. A huge loss for me, Montana and music in general. Wonderful musician/drummer. The real deal. I didn’t get to play with him much until the last four or five years, but we immediately connected. He was very attentive. I met Brad in Kansas City along with Kelly Roberti in 1988 right after I’d moved back to KC from LA. Met Bob Nell not long after btw. I actually moved into my house that day and almost didn’t go to hear them. Brad and Kelly were playing with, guitarist, Emily Remmler. I think of the consequences if I had not gone. Number one being if I hadn’t connected with Kelly I would not have met Yae, who I actually didn’t meet till after Kelly’s passing (another big loss), but she knew of me through Kel. Brad and I talked a lot about music. Mostly of Stravinsky, Bartok, Bach etc… Jazz too of course. He and I began playing with Erik Olsen and Alex Nauman fairly consistently in Bozeman, but mainly Billings. We started talking about how we needed to record. One night in Billings, after a gig, the four of us, Yae making it five, were hanging out at the Monte in Billings (I think Brad may have closed every bar in Billings) and I said let’s just do it (record) and we all agreed, but it was too late. Still learning at my age and sometimes it hurts. RIP, Brad, you left a crater.

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE
Bob and I listened to an album “SOLO IN RIO 1959” by Luiz Bonfá the other night as we are having a dinner he cooked and watching nice fire in our fireplace. Luiz Bonfá was a Brazilian guitarist/composer and was best known for the compositions for the film “Black Orpheus”. The album is very relaxing, has free feeling, and of course beautiful. Here is a link to a playlist on YouTube!
As Bob stated earlier, a great drummer and our friend, Brad Edwards passed on this date last year. He’s been missed deeply by so many. Here are couple of links to shows on 11th & Grant with Eric Funk that Brad was on.
Brad Edwards with pianist Ann Tappan, bassist and my late husband Kelly Roberti, and singer MJ Williams.
Also Brad with guitarist Alex Nauman and pianist/organist Erik Olson.
Rest in Peace, Brad.
