Our trip to Oregon and California is almost over. Bob had great concerts with wonderful musicians/friends. I met many enthusiastic music lovers who appreciate live jazz at his gigs!
And don’t forget to watch “11th and Grant” on Montana PBS this Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. (MT). Adam Platt anchors 3 acclaimed and diverse jazz trios, showcasing his original work. Drummer Alex Platt is featured in one of the three trios!
* To musician friends, if you would like to add your message, on going projects like new albums, etc. on BigSkyJazz.net please contact me!
* Details of these concerts can be changed due to artists/venues’ circumstances.

FRIDAY NIGHT AT RED TRACTOR PIZZA IN BOZEMAN

Gypsy Jazz at Red Tractor Pizza!
Victrola Voilà! is a Bozeman based collective of highly talented and experienced jazz manouche musicians.  With this “gypsy jazz”-inspired ensemble, instrumentation is highly versatile, ranging from a guitar, upright bass, and violin trio to a sextet with added guitar, piano, drums, and/or sax.
Victrola Voilà! primarily plays tunes popularized by Django Reinhardt and The Quintette du Hot Club de France in the 1930s/40s swing era, and can cater to a mellow dinner/lounge atmosphere, as well as to swing dances, upbeat private events, and weddings.
So whether you’re looking for an ambiance of soft, vintage, music performed by just a few string players or a swinging outfit that will get feet tapping and folks up on the dance floor, this incredible gypsy jazz band can fit your needs.

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

Our friend and one of Bozeman’s great jazz fans Greg sent me couple of recommendations!
Let’s start with “Garota de Ipanema” by Catina DeLuna & Otmaro Ruiz. Greg wrote “On the CD, they do Garota de Ipanema beautifully, taking that great, classic but overworked tune and freshening it up a lot, while still staying faithful to the classic bossa tradition.” Here is another tune from their recent live performance “And Then She Smiles“.
This one, Greg wrote: “diva crush-of-the-month, the amazing Georgian mezzo soprano Anita Rachvelishvili singing one of my all-time favorite tunes — Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires.” So here it is!! “Anita Rachvelishvili – María de Buenos Aires di Astor Piazzolla
Thank you for sharing, Greg!!!
