Like many musicians, Billings’ pianist and composer Erik Olson spent much of 2020 reflecting on the year of ups and downs and putting it down in notes. Erik is returning to Walkers on January 15th to showcase his new material in the recently released album, The Erik Olson Quartet Live and is being joined by regional jazz icons Parker Brown, Alex Nauman and Bill Honaker as the Erik Olson Quartet. While most of the songs are deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, you can expect an eclectic set featuring a variety of different styles and genres. And as always, there is no cover! On Saturday, January 21st, from 6:30-8:30 pm, Montana Manouche and Blend will celebrate the birthday of Django Reinhardt with music and a special menu! Django Reinhardt (Jan 23, 1910 – May 16, 1953) was a legendary Roma guitarist and composer who, together with French violinist Stephane Grappelli, created the style of music known as Gypsy Jazz. For this special event, Blend will be offering a traditional Roma dish, a Gypsy-style pork steak entree known as Ciganypecsenye! Dancers are welcome (space is limited tho.) No cover charge.
