Summer Art Walk will occur in downtown Bozeman this Friday and many art galleries and Emerson Center for Arts and Culture feature artists’ openings and receptions during the event. While you enjoy visiting galleries, please come by at Emerson Center to listen to Montana Manouche on the lawn. Of course, at jazz night Red Tractor Pizza, Bob Nell, Mike Carey, and Adam Greenberg will be playing. Later the evening at Tune Up Bar, vocalist Elana Hayden will be performing with her band! They play an irresistible mix of string jazz from with roots in the ‘Hot Club’ style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. SATURDAY, JUNE 17TH AT CIKAN HOUSE IN BOZEMAN
Please save the date for a house concert by this wonderful trio Bowman/Williams/Tappan on Saturday, June 17th 3-5PM at Cikan House in Bozeman! All of them have performed nationally/internationally and been appreciated by many music fans and musicians.
MJ Williams, vocalist, trombonist, Montana native and co-founder of Montana Artist Refuge was a recipient of Montana Art Council’s Governor’s Art Award (2016), one of 2021 Jazz Heroes by the Jazz Journalists Association, and MT Music Hall of Fame by Montana Area Music Association (2023).
Ann Tappan, originally from New Jersey and Montana resident since 1993, has been a busy performer also educator, and has recorded 10 albums include her long waited solo album “Paintings” (2017). Her elegant and minimalistic style will show you a new scenery of sounds!
Bassist Bob Bowman, originally from Topeka, KS, spent long time in Kansas City, MO moved to the Treasure State in 2017. In his long career, he has played with many jazz legends such as Thad Jones & Mel Lewis, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Carmen McRae, Freddy Hubbard, Bud Shank, Dan Haerle, Frank Mantooth, Karrin Allyson, and more. Bob has been on many recordings, some of them were nominated for or won Grammy Awards. His devotion to music and other musicians is deeply appreciated by many.
They have picked up new tunes and originals for this concert to make it special. An intimate setting of house concert like this will be a perfect opportunity to absorb beautiful sounds by these genuine artists.
